Tired of the same ole recipes? Is it about time to switch things up? Boy, do I have a nice Nick’s Picks for you!

It’s been a while but I’m back with some of Nick’s Picks! I’ve got solid feedback from previous restaurant reviews and I quite enjoy doing them. I’m currently in Alaska but will be doing quite a bit of traveling over this fall and all throughout winter, so I suppose you can expect a bunch of them to come!

This review sticks to the food space but in a different way. I enjoy eating out but, like the saying goes, there’s no place like home. Cooking and eating at home is my primary source of fuel and anything I can do to enhance the efficacy and enjoyment I jump all over it.

***************

If you’re like me, you love food. Let’s face it, food makes us happy and it’s the center of our entire lives. As it should be, I mean we do need it to survive. For something to be so crucial to our very existence, it would make sense that we prioritize it and make it good, right?

I think so!

There’s nothing better than sitting down to a nice meal after a long, hard day. Obviously, the better the ingredients the more our body will benefit from the foods we eat. And, of course, we should make our food taste good too. But, spicing up our food could be expensive, calorically and metabolically speaking.

There’s gotta be a way to make our food taste great, naturally, without a bunch of funky things we can’t pronounce. I’ve used a lot of different seasonings in a variety of ways but after stumbling upon FreshJax, I don’t think I’ll be using anything else.

I’m a pretty simple guy, especially when it comes to my food. I don’t really do extensive recipes and mess with a bunch of ingredients. I usually keep it as basic as possible and utilize simple seasonings to accentuate the flavors of the foods.

Why FreshJax?

Small Batching

I’ve grown to really like products that are made in small batches. From protein powders to coffee, things done in small batches produce a better quality product and remain consistent. You don’t have to worry about added fillers watering down the product to save the company a buck during manufacturing.

I’ve also found that companies that do small batch production are run by hard-working, trustworthy individuals who want to make a positive impact in the marketplace they love.

100% Real Food

You might be surprised by how much of our food isn’t real, especially when it comes to add on food items like seasonings and spices. Sugars and cheap fats make things taste much better and are super cheap. FreshJax uses only real food to make their spices. No fillers, MSG, dyes, or anything artificial is found in their formulas.

Most of the time, I don’t even use spices until after my food is completely cooked or near finished cooking. With FreshJax spices, I don’t have to worry about anything because it’s all real food. Heck, I could eat it by the spoonful if I chose to, which wouldn’t be too far out of the question.

The Products

The Smoked Spices Set

The Smoked Spices Set

I’ve become a pretty rugged, mountain guy so I’ve really grown to love the smell of a smokey aroma. It just really puts me at home and gives me a taste (no pun intended) of the outdoors. The smoked spices collection really hits home with me!

The Grill Master: Burger Seasoning is supper versatile for meat and veggies. The Mesquite Lime: Seasoned Sea Salt could line the rim of your margarita and spice it up a bit. For all my fellow Texans, the Smokey Southwest Grill Seasoning is great for your taco Tuesdays. The Campfire: Smokey Sea Salt reminds me of long nights camped under the rocky maintain stars.

The Spicy Spices

I’m not a huge fan of spicy foods but if that’s more your speed, FreshJax delivers.

The Ghost Pepper is a fiery hot sea salt that will certainly get your attention. Substitute the ghost pepper for your normal salt to add some serious heat, if you dare. Toss some on some chicken wings or chili, if you’d like, but don’t count me in for dinner on this one.

If the Ghost Pepper is too daunting, maybe give the Peppered Habanero a go. Slightly less spicy but more than enough to eat things up. Again, this one is a little spicy for my liking but I could see this being a nice addition to a baked potato and/ or some grilled veggie kabobs.

Keto Friendly Spice

For those with a war on carbs, there’s the Keto Chophouse Steak Seasoning. But, don’t limit this one to just beef, the chophouse would go good with any protein source. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about sprinkling some on a nicely marbled ribeye! And don’t worry, you don’t have to be on a keto diet to enjoy this one!

BBQ, Don’t Mind if I Do!

The Rosy Cheeks Maple Bourbon BBQ Spice just makes my mouth water by saying it. Sprinkle some of this over some baked beans and some tender baby back ribs and you’ll have all the neighbors begging for a seat at your dinner table.
